Putin demite governo e nomeia Viktor Khristenko PM interino
O presidente russo, Vladimir Putin, anunciou terça-feira a demissão do governo dirigido por Mikhail Kassianov numa declaração transmitida pela televisão estatal, justificando-a com a necessidade de remodelar o executivo antes das presidenciais de 14 de Março.
Minutos depois, o serviço de imprensa do Kremlin anunciou a nomeação do actual vice-primeiro-ministro Viktor Khristenko para a chefia interina do governo.
"Em conformidade com o artigo 117 da Constituição russa, tomei a decisão de demitir o governo", declarou Putin.
"Esta demissão - explicou - não decorre da minha apreciação do trabalho do governo, que considero globalmente satisfatória, mas da vontade de demonstrar a minha posição sobre a direcção que o país deve tomar depois de 14 de Março", data das presidenciais.
Rumores persistentes nos últimos meses apontavam para o afastamento de Kassianov, última figura política de primeiro plano no Kremlin desde a presidência de Boris Ieltsin.
